ASRY adds $1m SOLAS workshop to onsite facilities

MANAMA: ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, has expanded its already extensive range of onsite specialist contractors with the opening of a new permanent workshop for Solas Marine Services Group. The Solas-built facility is a 18,000-square-foot Service Centre for Life Boats, Life Rafts and Fire Fighting & Life Saving Appliances, which will not only expand ASRY’s services portfolio, but also bring new business opportunities to the Kingdom itself.

This is the latest in a string of new workshop openings under Project Jupiter, the initiative to create the leading collection of onsite specialist contractors in the region within ASRY’s perimeter. These include new dedicated facilities by Seven Seas, Gates, Sultan Marine, ABB, Wilhelmsen, Gulf Turbo and now SOLAS.

ASRY Procurement and Contracts General Manager Magdy Moustafa, who attended the opening, commented, “SOLAS’ state-of-the-art facility is another encouraging step towards making ASRY a one-stop shop for our clients marine repair needs. Not only does SOLAS match ASRY’s commitment to the highest quality and safety standards, they also perfectly compliment the comprehensive blend of services that Project Jupiter has brought to ASRY.”

The Chairman of the Solas Group, P.S. Kamath, who inaugurated the facility commented, “We are very proud of this collaboration with ASRY. Together we will be able to bring world-class safety, firefighting and hydraulic solutions directly and efficiently to ASRY’s clients, as well as reaching out to the broader market for new opportunities.”

Solas Group Managing Director Prashant Kamath, and Solas Group CEO Sanjay Prabhu commented that under the agreement with ASRY, Solas will offer its variety of services to the local market as well as ASRY customers, which will contribute positively to the national income of Bahrain and boost further training and employment opportunities for Bahrainis. The facility will offer comprehensive solutions for safety and firefighting, as well as specialist services, stock of equipment and spare parts, service partnership with world’s best OEMs and set of highly trained and experienced personnel.

Prabhu also added expressed his gratitude to ASRY for “their tremendous business support and cooperation over the years, which has boosted our business morale and resulted in greater quality and dedication in our service delivery.”

Mr. Magdy Moustafa said that the Agreement is the first in a series of similar arrangements which will serve as additional resources for ASRY to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors under the chairmanship of His Excellency Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al-Khalifa.
